License Updates
Microsoft announced on September 6, 2022, that they are changing their Teams Room licensing structure. Going forward new Teams Room customers have two options to choose from: Teams Room Basic or Teams Room Pro.
Previously Microsoft offered Teams Room Standard or Teams Room Premium licenses as options, with very little difference between the two. Main difference was the inclusion of the Premium Managed Services with the Premium license. All other features were the same between the two licenses.
The new Basic license will now remove some commonly used features and services that were previously included in the Standard license. The new Pro license will now be required for many of these commonly used features. Please click on the link here for a general overview of the two new licenses.
Additional information about the licenses can be found on the following Microsoft Support Article.
Additional Information
Microsoft advises that there will be no changes for customers with currently active licenses until their next renewal date and they should not see any changes with their Teams Room systems. Customers will be required to purchase one of the new licenses offered by Microsoft when their current license is due for renewal.
New customers that purchase one of the new licenses from Microsoft should see only the features and services that are available for that license.
In order to check which licenses your Teams Rooms devices are currently using, please follow these instructions.
Note: Microsoft considers the room controller (Tap IP and Tap across USB or Cat5e Kit) to be a part of the room system. Therefore Tap IP/USB can be used with a Teams Rooms Basic License. On the other hand, Tap Scheduler is considered as a Teams panel, and does require a Pro license.
